Consultants often bring deep technical expertise to client engagements. Yet creating impact with clients requires more than strong analysis.

THE CHALLENGE
For many professionals, these capabilities develop gradually through experience.
The organisation wanted to accelerate this learning by creating a space where consultants could practise the skills that make consulting work effective — from structured problem-solving to clear communication and strong collaboration.
THE EXPERIENCE
The Power Skills Hackathon is a two-day immersive learning experience combining a consulting simulation with targeted skill development.
Working in teams, participants tackle a real-world business challenge and develop solutions under time pressure. Along the way, short learning interventions introduce key consulting skills such as structured communication, proactivity, collaboration, and persuasive presentation. Teams immediately apply these skills as they refine their approach and prepare their final recommendations.
The experience culminates in presentations to senior leaders, creating a realistic moment of challenge, feedback, and learning.
THE IMPACT
Participants left the hackathon with greater confidence in tackling complex client challenges. They strengthened their ability to structure problems, communicate ideas clearly, and collaborate effectively under pressure.
Teams also generated practical solutions to real business challenges, some of which were taken forward after the event. The experience strengthened connections between senior leaders and emerging talent while reinforcing a culture of experimentation and learning.
